Hi! My name is Blake Hourigan and I am a recent Computer Science and Engineering graduate seeking a software engineering position. I received my Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Louisville in May 2025. with a primary interest in embedded programming. I have completed all required coursework for my degree program, and am currently taking time to hone my programming skills. I have recently completed an interactive read of The Rust Programming Language by Steve Klabnik and Carol Nichols, and am working on various projects to improve my knowledge and understanding of the language.
You can find a list of these projects along with details and images on my website's projects page or on my github repositories page.
In April of 2025 I returned to Dr. Chad Samuelsen's research lab to build an all new 3-Port experiment rig to enable new experimental designs and push the frontier of knowlege about the brain forward.
Here I worked as a Laboratory Engineer Co-Op student at Dr. Chad Samuelsen's Research Laboratory. I built a new lab experiment rig to test lab rats olfactory senses in novel ways.
This experience involved utilizing Python programming skills to create a GUI control application, PCB design, and 3D modelling skills.
